Use of mines by Armenians in Azerbaijanâ€™s Nagorno Karabakh region condemned at international conference

APA reports that director of Azerbaijan Campaign to Ban Landmines Hafiz Safikhanov is representing Azerbaijan at the event.

Hafiz Safikhanov told APA that the event, which started on December 2 and will last till December 9, will focus on the problem of anti-personnel mines, non-proliferation of anti-personnel mines in the countries that joined the Convention.

Safikhanov said due to their efforts, the fact that the separatist regime used mines in Azerbaijan’s Nagorno Karabakh region occupied by Armenia in 2013 was included into the report of the international campaign.

“This fact was also condemned in the message of the UN Secretary General,” he said.

Hafiz Safikhanov will address the plenary meeting today and speak about the work done in Azerbaijan for non-proliferation of mines.
