Strasbourg. Fuad Gulubeyli - APA. United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has today addressed the plenary meeting of the PACE summer session.
Then the UN chief answered the questions of the assembly members.
Member of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE, Sevinj Fataliyeva recalled that 20 percent of the Azerbaijani territories were occupied by Armenia, despite four resolutions of the UN Security Council, the occupation still continues and asked what steps the UN can the for Armenia’s fulfilling these resolutions.
The Azerbaijani-Armenian Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can be solved only by peaceful means, the UN chief added.
“I am very concerned about the regular violation of ceasefire between the two countries. We see what is happening between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and both sides suffer causalities every day. The tension is gradually escalating between the two countries. I urge both countries to resolve the conflict peacefully. The military solution to the conflict will be devastating not only for the sides of the conflict, but also for the entire region, it will bring serious consequences. The OSCE Minsk Group is engaged in the resolution of the conflict. The basic idea here is a dialogue between the sides and continuation of efforts to achieve a sustainable solution,” he noted.
