Moscow. Farid Akberov – APA. “Dialogue of the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict will be further continued,” Russian political analyst, expert at the Carnegie Moscow Center Alexey Malashenko told APA’s Moscow correspondent while commenting on the meeting of the Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents in Vienna yesterday.

According to the analyst, neither Azerbaijani nor Armenian society is ready for war: “The ongoing war in Syria has proven once again that the current wars are endless and there are no winners. No war will take place between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Proposed “5+2” formula that is firstly envisages the return of the five occupied regions of Azerbaijan and then the two occupied regions is also serving to prolong the dialogue. It means that the dialogue can produce results.”

Commenting on Russia’s pressure on CIS countries for their entry into the Customs Union, Malashenko said that the ideas of creating the Eurasian Union and Customs Union belong to Vladimir Putin: “Realizing these ideas, President Vladimir Putin wants to turn Russia into a prestigious and hegemonic state. For Moscow there is no second space except the CIS, where Russia can be considered a powerful regional state. And so Russia is trying to increase the number of members of the organization, but the states decide to join these organizations primarily basing on their own national interests. On the other hand, the countries, which will join these organizations, will feel themselves under the wing of Russia.”
