Ogtay Asadov: Azerbaijan supports peaceful, fair solution to Karabakh problem

Ogtay Asadov said during the meeting that Azerbaijan gives much priority to its relations with Japan, the parliament’s press service told APA.
Ogtay Asadov said there’s positive progress in the volume of the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Japan: “Azerbaijan today is the leading country in the South Caucasus in terms of economic indicators. The activity of oil and gas pipelines such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum, TRASEKA, works carried out on the revival of the Old Silk Road, construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars rail way all indicate Azerbaijan’s daily growing influence. We highly appreciate the support Japan demonstrated to Azerbaijan for its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, and we do believe that our mutually beneficial cooperation will continue in future within international organizations”.
The speaker also noted that beside its rapid development Azerbaijan has a problem like Nagorno-Karabakh: “Azerbaijan supports a peaceful and fair solution to this problem in compliance with international law”.
Mr Minoru Kiuchi said in his turn that Azerbaijan’s achievements in various areas, global projects it has carried out, and the country’s rapid development have increased the interest of the Japanese in the South Caucasus region.
