ICRC representatives visited the recently detained Azerbaijani in Nagorno-Karabakh on September 6 and informed his family about him, spokesperson for the ICRC Baku Office Ilaha Huseynova told APA.
The ICRC is conducting discussions with both sides and the subject of the discussions is not made public.
“In general, his return depends on agreement of the sides, thus the side who detained the hostage agrees to return him and the opposite side to accept. Most importantly, the detained person should express his desire to return. In this case, the International Committee of the Red Cross can take part in the process of return. The ICRC can provide information only after the completion of the process,” she said.
Armenian media outlets reported quoting the press service of the so-called NKR Defense Ministry that it was agreed to return 15-year-old Javid Mammadov.
