Baku. Malahat Najafova – APA. Armenia's recent statements don’t allow me to be optimistic about the state of negotiations on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov made remarks on March 18 during a press conference following the meeting with his Sudanese counterpart in Baku, APA reports.
The minister said that Armenia is engaged in aggressive rhetoric, maybe it is for the domestic audience.
“It was proposed to establish a working group on transport and internally displaced persons during the last visit of the co-chairs. As we know, Armenia has rejected the proposal. Azerbaijan's position is that the sooner the troops are withdrawn, the sooner a peace agreement will be signed. Azerbaijan continues to develop. A groundbreaking ceremony was held for TANAP in Kars. This great project is important for the development of the region. If Armenia wants to join a project, our argument is known: it should withdraw its troops from the occupied territories!,” Mammadyarov underlined.
