Ahmadov said in some sense, there is nothing new in this step of Russia.
According to him, Russia and Armenia signed an agreement on military cooperation, Russia’s military forces are located in the territory of Armenia and even the Russian border-guards are protecting this country’s borders: “It is not new that Russia is constantly providing Armenia with arms. It seems that with his recent order President Vladimir Putin wants to bring to agenda the Russian-Armenian military strategic cooperation in the geopolitical context. In other words, he wanted to sound loudly the essence of the relationship.”
Ahmadov said he was in favor of estimating this step as a continuation of military-political and military-technical cooperation of the two states and added that he didn’t want to believe the above-mentioned cooperation is against Azerbaijan: “Because Azerbaijan and Russia are friendly and neighboring countries. There is another moment, which must be drawn attention to and causes the concern of the Azerbaijani people. How will the country, which has undertaken mediating role in the settlement of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, associate military-technical cooperation (plans are being worked out to further strengthen this cooperation) with one of the sides of the conflict and mediation? How can then an objective approach of the mediator be ensured?”
