According to him, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs signed a document on the solution of the conflict in 2007: “Armenia has admitted that document. But the Azerbaijani side was not satisfied with this document. Following this, the co-chairs prepared a second document in 2009, however this time Armenia didn’t admit this document.”
Sergei Lavrov mentioned that Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents held 10 meetings with the mediation of former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
“Minsk Group co-chairs also attended the meetings. Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents were offered to reach a common understanding. US, Russian and French presidents issued a joint statement at the meeting of G8 in May, 2011. At the Kazan meeting the presidents were called to adopt the final version of the documents prepared in 2007 and 2009. But unfortunately, the document was not adopted, because the sides failed to reach an agreement,” he said.
