As a part the conference the members of the Azerbaijani delegation met with ICAO Secretary General Raymond Benjamin. They discussed the prospects of cooperation, as well as the problems on tightening security of air transportations. Raymond Benjamin expressed ICAO's position on the inadmissibility of opening Khojaly civil airport in the occupied Azerbaijan's territory, in the military conflict zone.
ICAO Secretary General said they support all the UN Security Council resolutions on the occupation of Nagorno Karabakh. He also underlined that attempts to unilaterally open Khojaly airport without Azerbaijan's permission and certification undermine the process of resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, are assessed as obvious violation of ICAO Chicago Convention and international legal norms.
