Deputy PM makes public international drug trafficking routes through Azerbaijan

Baku. Kamala Guliyeva – APA. “Nagorno Karabakh region occupied by Armenia is used as an uncontrolled area for drug trafficking, drug cultivation and transnational crimes,” said chairman of the State Commission on Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov at the meeting today, APA reports.

According to him, due to the occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territories by Armenian armed forces, 132 km border of the country has become uncontrolled area.

Hasanov said that three international routes for drug trafficking cross through the country. These are Afghanistan-Pakistan-Iran-Azerbaijan, Afghanistan-Iran-Azerbaijan and Afghanistan-Central Asia-Azerbaijan: “But there is one more route that has not been included in the list of international routes, this is Afghanistan-Iran-Nagorno Karabakh. This route is not included in the UN reports. We have officially appealed to the international organizations on this.”
