“Deputy Konstantin Zatulin's statements on Nagorno Garabagh conflict do not reflect State Duma and its CIS Committee's position. These statements reflects Zatuli's own position,” Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots at the State Duma of the Russian Federation Leonid Kalashnikov said in an interview with APA’s Moscow correspondent.
Commenting on the next provocative statements made against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan by his first deputy Konstantin Zatulin while participating at the “forum” held by so-called regime in occupied Khankendi city of Azerbaijan, Chairman of Committee stated that visiting the occupied Azerbaijani territories is a personal issue of Zatulin: “As we know we have a law on deputyship. Unfortunately, the law operates in such a way that MPs sometimes pursue personal goals, interests or their political believe dictates it to them. I have said my point on this. I repeat again. Konstantin Zatulin’s known activities and statements have nothing to do with the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots. You ask me that my deputy did it. And I answer that I have not appointed this deputy.”
L. Kalashnikov also said that the statements made on the occupied lands were Zatuli's personal views: "These views have nothing to do with the Russian State Duma and the Duma of the CIS Committee. The Russian State Duma's view of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is not so. The Russian State Duma can not have such a view that discords states and nations. Many desire to discord nations. But I always urge members of my committee to stay away from such steps. We should not go over the matter with fire, on the contrary, we need to make peace. But some do the opposite”.
Note that the deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin, attended the "forum" entitled "Cooperation for Justice and Peace - Friends of Artsax" held in occupied Azerbaijani territories on October 11.
