Azerbaijani President: â€œNeither peace, nor war conditions can last for everâ€

Baku â€“ APA. â€œThe fact that Azerbaijan became member of US Security Council wasnâ€™t a significant event in the history of a young state. This factor only gives us an opportunity to demonstrate the world community our efforts for support assurance of peace and stability in the world, as well as to show our straight position and what issues are included into our agendaâ€, said the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during the meeting with the guest who arrived in Azerbaijan to attend international conference â€œRestoration of Bridgesâ€.

President of Azerbaijan said that the occupation problem that has been continued for 20 years remains the main problem for Azerbaijan: â€œThe significant part of our territory â€“ Nagorno Karabakh region and it has never been settled by the Armenians. The regions that are not included in the administrative division of Nagorno Karabakh region are also under occupation. International negotiator group has been working for 20 years. But we havenâ€™t got any results. They only help to support the fragile peace within military regime for 18 years. The main issue is that we canâ€™t realize the resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council demanding immediate withdraw the Armenian troops from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. This is really a very serious situation. â€œNeither peace, nor war conditionsâ€ can last for ever. But Armenians make efforts to strengthen its status quo. They donâ€™t want to change anything and withdraw their troops from the occupied areas. They donâ€˜t listen to the messages sent to them by the Co-chair leading states such as France, Russia and US. These states declare that the status quo is unacceptable and it must be changed. Armenia must change its status quo. This is really a very serious problem for us. This is also the main problem for the security and stability in the region, because the conflict isnâ€™t frozen, but the peace if fragileâ€.
