Baku. Victoria Dementieva – APA. “We have never denied the idea of defining the status of Nagorno Karabakh. The status could be discussed only after the Azerbaijani IDPs returned back to their homes”. Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov told APA.

He mentioned that the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan must be restored and Armenians in Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijanis must live together. The model of autonomy must be prepared to create relevant condition for them.

Araz Azimov said that the worlds community’s position on this issue is quite clear: “The territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is supported not only by the allies of Azerbaijan, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, but also by the UN Security Council’s resolutions and NATO and Non-Aligned Movement documents. I consider that their statements would be a clear message to Armenia. Yerevan has to understand and accept it”.

The Deputy Foreign Minister reminded that the negotiations on the conflict solution have been being continued for 20 years. Co-chairs and diplomats have been substituted: “But the main problem is that Armenia doesn’t intend to change its position. There are very clear conceptions identified in 2004. These conceptions give us opportunity to create a “Road map”. The issue concerning both Azerbaijan and Armenia must be reflected in that “Road map”. No one rejects the idea of communication restoration. But it could be possible only after the liberation of Azerbaijani lands. We have never refused to identify the status of Nagorno Karabakh. It could be discussed only after the Azerbaijani IDPs returned back to their homes”.
