Abid Sharifov: “A document on mine clearing of Azerbaijani territories after liberation from the Armenian occupation was preparedâ€

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. The number of mine-affected people in Azerbaijan has declined significantly, Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov told journalists, APA reports.
According to him, in general 642 people died as a result of mine and ammunition explosions in Azerbaijan: “Lessons on it are being held in recent years. That’s why number of mine-affected people in Azerbaijan has declined significantlyâ€.
Sharifov said that 19 000 ha area has been cleared of mines up to now.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that assessment document on mine and UXO threat in the occupied territories was prepared. This document reflects issues on clearing of territories after liberation.
Sharifov underlined that there is mine and UXO problem in the military bases of the former Soviet army in suburbs of Baku. Works are being carried out for elimination of these problems.
