The U.S. must find a more stable way to withdraw Russian peacekeepers from Azerbaijan after their five-year deployment, Assistant Secretary of U.S. State for European and Eurasian Affairs James C. O'Brien said in response to the question about Russia's evasion of sanctions through the post-Soviet countries, APA reports.
"We need to find a more stable way for Armenia to govern itself and for Russian peacekeepers to withdraw after their five-year term. We can only do this when we are deeply engaged in the emerging peace agreement. If we stay out, Russia will continue to control the border," O'Brien added.
