A meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, APA's Moscow bureau reports.
Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov participated in the meeting.
Andrey Belousov, the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, was elected the Chairman of the CIS Council of Defense Ministers.
He announced the priorities set by Russia during its chairmanship of the CIS.
The minister noted that the Russian Federation considers improving the mechanisms of combating new and traditional challenges a priority during its chairmanship of the CIS.
"Russia highly appreciates the solidarity of the CIS countries in the fight against the glorification of Nazism and the falsification of history," Belousov noted.
Note that Armenia did not participate in the CIS Council of Defense Ministers meeting.
