Armenia contaminated Azerbaijan's Garabagh, Eastern Zangazur with 480 tons of plastic mass - ANAMA

"Azerbaijan is among the countires most polluted with mines in the world," Chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov said during the public hearing themed "Combating the Landmine Threat - Impact of Explosive Ordnance on the Ecosystem" held in Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, APA reports.

He stated that along with directly posing a threat to the lives and health of people, these hidden seeds of death harm the ecosystem that surrounds us, it seriously affects both the environment, people's well-being and social development:

"During the period of occupation of our territories, Garabagh and Eastern Zangazur, which are rich in clear ecosystem and among the regions with the purest and most beautiful nature of our country were destroyed by the Armenian military units and according to approximate calculations, were contaminated with about 1.5 million mines and explosives. This, with a minimum calculation, means 480 tons of plastic mass contaminated with harmful substances."
