A proposed amendment to the “Defense Law” introduces regulations on territorial defense, which will be implemented by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in coordination with state bodies, local self-governance authorities, and legal entities. The organization, preparation, and provision of territorial defense will be defined by the Charter on Azerbaijan’s Territorial Defense, APA reports.
This change has been included in the agenda for the National Assembly session scheduled for June 21.
The proposal notes that the analysis of the 44-day Patriotic War and subsequent anti-terror operations necessitated a renewed focus on territorial defense issues in Azerbaijan.
