The opening ceremony of the 2nd Forum on the topic “Social Processes in the Media Landscape,” organized by the Media Development Agency, has been held, APA reports.
Executive Director of the Media Development Agency Ahmad Ismayilov, delivering opening speech at the Forum, stated that for the second year now, the Forum, targeting to discuss the current and important public issues of the country's media agenda has been functioning as an effective platform forming state-media dialogue.
He emphasized that as a result of the modern organization of media and communication activities in recent years, the true intentions of those conducting smear campaigns against Azerbaijan are now swiftly exposed by the local media, and a strong natural resistance — an information immunity — is being reinforced in society against the spread of negative news.
Speaking at the Forum, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva, emphasized that human rights, being one of the fundamental pillars of society's development, are among the core principles of building a legal state. The role of media in ensuring access to information and public awareness in the protection of these principles and citizens’ rights is particularly important.
President of the Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Member of the Judicial-Legal Council, Sanan Hajiyev, noted that the correct presentation of judicial and legal reforms, the clear communication of legal terms and procedures to the public, and the healthy formation of public opinion rely on professional cooperation between the media and judicial bodies.
Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kamran Shafiyev, emphasized that the declaration of this year as the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty” further increases the focus on public legal awareness and the protection of constitutional values and in this context, the comprehensive, transparent, and accurate dissemination of legal information through media, and the expansion of citizens' access to legal knowledge, holds particular importance.
Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Rahman Hummatov, noted that digitalization plays a significant role in the development dynamics of modern society. This process is not only transforming technological sectors, but also information circulation, public relations, and citizens’ interaction with the state, creating new challenges and opportunities in media-government relations.
Note that the Forum will continue with panel sessions on the topics “Media Agenda in the Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty,” “Sustainable Solutions in Transport Infrastructure in the Media Platform,” and “Safe Digital Media Environment: Informed Users.”
