"SOCAR’s Kulevi terminal, located on the Black Sea coast, will cooperate with the first oil refinery being built in Georgia," said the terminal’s General Director Ilgar Alizade during the Caspian and Central Asia Oil Trading and Logistics Forum organized by GLENMAR Group, APA reports.

According to him, construction of Georgia’s first oil refinery (OR) began last year, just three kilometers away from the Kulevi terminal. The refinery’s first phase will have an annual capacity of 1.1 million tons, while the second phase, set for 2026–2027, will increase output to 3.5 million tons per year.

“Accordingly, as Kulevi terminal, we will handle all inbound cargoes to the refinery and outbound cargoes for further export,” Alizade said.

He added that expansion projects at the terminal include building four 20,000-cubic-meter tanks, bringing the total tank capacity to 487,000 cubic meters.

“All major works at the Kulevi terminal are carried out by SOCAR Midstream,” he emphasized.

Plans also include constructing a breakwater and additional berths at the terminal by 2027.
