Khankendi to get new residential buildings as part of restoration efforts, says Presidential Representative

As part of the large-scale construction and restoration works being carried out in the city of Khankendi, new residential buildings will be constructed,said Elchin Yusubov, the Special Representative of the President in Khankendi city, Aghdara and Khojaly districts, during a panel speech at the Karabakh Education and Partnership Forum held today, APA reports.

He noted that the majority of residential buildings currently standing in Khankendi were built during the 1950s–1960s of the last century: “Most of the multi-story residential buildings located on various streets and avenues of the city, built at that time with the financial support of the Azerbaijani government, have already exceeded their service life. Based on the opinion of relevant authorities, buildings in an emergency condition will be demolished and replaced with modern high-rise residential buildings in accordance with Azerbaijan’s architectural style. The construction work will not be financed by the state budget but will be implemented by private sector construction companies. This will contribute to sustainable settlement in our native Khankendi and the creation of new jobs. In short, the construction works to be carried out by the private sector will have a positive impact on the development of the region's economy.”
