In January–March 2025, cargo transported via sea in Azerbaijan totals 2.21 million tons, marking a 14.2% increase compared to the same period last year, APA-Economics reports, citing the State Statistics Committee.
Oil cargo accounted for 46.8% of the total volume.
During the reporting period, seaports handled 3.4825 million tons of cargo loading and unloading operations. Of this, 2.8809 million tons or 82.7% were transit shipments.
As of April 1, 2025, 178,000 tons of cargo remained at ports.
The number of passengers transported by sea dropped 4.8% annually, reaching 5,900 people.
