"In the last 4 years, state-owned enterprises in the transportation and ICT sectors have undergone a significant transformation. As a result of systematic reforms, substantial achievements have been made, both in terms of service quality and the efficiency of management, with significant progress in these areas," the executive director of the Azerbaijan Transport and Communications Holding (AZCON), Shahin Babayev, said in an interview with APA.
"During this period, transit cargo turnover has more than doubled. The number of passengers transported by air reached a record high of 7.5 million in 2024. A State Program for the development of public transportation has been adopted, and its measures are being implemented. Regarding ICT, as part of the Online Azerbaijan project, the country has been equipped with fiber-optic internet. Over the last 4 years, the average speed of fixed broadband internet has increased more than sixfold, reaching 73.6 Mbit/s. Digitalization has been implemented in the public sector, and several strategic documents and concepts in this area have been approved," Babayev said.
