Trial of ISIS member arrested for planning terror attack on synagogue in Baku begins

Trial of Abdulla Aliyev, accused of preparing for terrorism in Azerbaijan, has began, APA reports. 

The criminal case initiated against Abdulla Aliyev by the State Security Service (SSS) has been submitted to the Baku Court on Grave Crimes.

The case has been assigned to Judge Aygun Gurbanova.

The preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 12.

Note that Abdulla Aliyev is charged under the Criminal Code with articles 28, 214.2.1 (terrorism, committed by a group of individuals acting in concert, an organized group, or a criminal organization), 28, 214.2.3 (terrorism, committed using firearms or objects intended as weapons), 28, 214.2.6 (terrorism, committed on the basis of religious enmity, religious radicalism, or religious fanaticism), and 218.2 (participation in a criminal group (organization), as well as involvement in organized criminal groups as an organizer, leader, or other representative).

According to the information, he was arrested by the State Security Service (SSS) officers while preparing to attack a Jewish synagogue in Baku with a "Molotov cocktail."

According to the charges, 18-year-old Abdulla Aliyev, a resident of Sumgait city and affiliated with the "ISIS Khorasan" terrorist organization, was preparing to carry out a terrorist attack against the Synagogue of Mountain Jews of Baku.

On December 28 of the previous year, he approached the synagogue in a car, preparing to attack it with a Molotov cocktail and other items intended to be used as weapons.

During the operation, items and objects he intended to use as weapons were discovered and seized from Abdulla Aliyev and his vehicle.
