The captain of the aircraft belonging to Qantas Airlines, operating on the London–Singapore route, requested an emergency landing at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, APA reports citing the Public Relations Service of Azerbaijan’s international airports.
The reason was the sudden deterioration of the health of one of the passengers on board.
The Airbus A380 aircraft successfully landed at 07:55 Baku time. Immediate medical assistance was provided to the passenger on site. Currently, the necessary medical evaluation and observation process regarding the passenger’s health is ongoing.
Note that the Airbus A380 is considered the largest passenger aircraft in global air transportation. This double-deck, four-engine aircraft can carry hundreds of passengers and can only land at international airports that meet special technical standards.
Heydar Aliyev International Airport is equipped with modern ground equipment, wide runways, and a high-level service infrastructure capable of handling A380 aircraft. In this regard, Baku airport is one of the few airports in the region fully technically and operationally prepared to receive such aircraft.
