A domestic dispute in Azerbaijan's Tovuz city has ended in tragedy, resulting in one fatality, one serious injury, and a house fire, APA's local bureau reports.
The incident occurred in a residential area of the city. A sudden fire broke out in a private home, prompting an immediate response from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), which dispatched fire trucks and personnel to the scene. The fire has since been extinguished.
Initial investigations indicate that the house was intentionally set on fire during a family dispute. It has been reported that 31-year-old Kainat Namazov, who suffers from mental health issues, assaulted his mother, 55-year-old Sevinc Hasanova, and his 25-year-old sister, A. Namazova, with an axe during a violent altercation.
As a result of the attack, Sevinc Hasanova sustained severe injuries and later died in hospital, while A. Namazova remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
After the assault, Kainat Namazov allegedly set fire to the family home. He has been detained by police, and a criminal case has been launched. Investigations are ongoing.
