An inmate has died as a result of the collapse of the roof of a building at Prison No. 12 in Baku, the Ministry of Justice said in response to APA's inquiry.
It was reported that on June 1 at 13:10, the roof of the residential building for prisoners of prison No. 12 collapsed. As a result, one inmate, Movlam Mukhtar Mustafayev, who had been sentenced under Article 120.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan (intentional homicide), died on June 2, 2025, from injuries sustained during the incident.
No other prisoners serving their sentences at the institution or among the institution's staff were injured.
An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Baku city Garadagh District Prosecutor's Office.
