Igbal Abilov sentenced for carrying out tasks of Armenian intelligence

The trial of Igbal Abilov, accused of committing treason by carrying out tasks assigned by Armenian intelligence services, has concluded, APA reports.

At today’s hearing held at the Lankaran Court on Grave Crimes under the chairmanship of Judge Khammad Nuriyev, the verdict was announced.

According to the ruling, Abilov was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Abilov, who had been residing abroad, was detained during a special operation conducted by the State Security Service (SSS).

He was charged under Articles 274 (State betray), 281.3 (The acts provided committed by orders of foreign organizations or their representatives), and 283.1 (The actions directed on excitation of national, racial or religious hostility) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
