An explosion involving military ordnance occurred on May 2, 2025, in the village of Khanyurd, located in the liberated Khojaly district, APA reports citing a joint statement by the Press Services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General’s Office, and the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA).
The explosion injured Aqshin Arif Mammadov, born in 2008 and resident of Jalilli village, Tovuz district. He suffered injuries to his right hand when the detonation mechanism of a hand grenade exploded. Three of his fingers were amputated as a result.
The Khojaly District Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the incident.
ANAMA, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Prosecutor General’s Office once again urge citizens to follow safety rules, avoid touching or interfering with dangerous objects, observe mine warning signs, and refrain from entering unfamiliar areas.
