On April 22, an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotic substances from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the Republic of Azerbaijan using a flying device was prevented in the service area of the Goytapa border detachment of the State Border Service’s Border Troops, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA.
Border guards were immediately alerted with the "To Arms!" command, securing the area and conducting a border search.
As a result of the search and operational measures, three individuals - identified as residents of the Masalli district — Namik Hamil Mehraliyev, born in 1996, Peyman Ahmad Babayev, born in 1993, and a resident of Baku city, Mohammad Rashid Javadov, also born in 1993, traveling in the direction of the incident in a "Toyota Prius" vehicle with the license plate "54-BK-650" were detained as suspects.
During the investigation, it was determined that the detained individuals had come to the area with the intention of retrieving a total of 53 kilograms and 865 grams of narcotic substances.
Operational-investigative measures regarding the incident are ongoing.
