A person attempting to cross the state border using documents belonging to someone else has been detained, APA reports citing the Press Center of the State Border Service.
It was noted that measures to ensure the reliable protection of the state border and to combat illegal migration are being successfully continued. On May 30, due to the vigilance and professionalism of the border control officers of the State Border Service, a citizen of the Federation of Malaysia, Satyaselan Vijiya, arriving in the Republic of Azerbaijan on the Kuwait-Baku flight, was detained at Heydar Aliyev International Airport after suspicions arose during document inspection that the passport did not belong to him.
During the investigation, it was determined that the detained individual was in fact a citizen of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka – Savuthararajan Kasvithan, born in 1994.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the fact, and relevant operational-investigative measures are currently ongoing.
