Azerbaijan extradites Uzbek citizen detained in January

An Uzbek citizen has been extradited to his country, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan told APA.

The request of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan to execute the indictment of Akif Imran Rzayev, a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan, born in 1962, who was identified and detained in Azerbaijan in January of this year and was placed under preventive detention, under Article 168, Part 4, Part "a" (fraud committed with a particularly large amount of damage) of the Criminal Code of that state, has been granted by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Based on the "Convention on Legal Aid and Legal Relations in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters" dated October 7, 2002, the extradition of Akif Rzayev was approved, and he was handed over to the authorized authorities of Uzbekistan under the escort of a special convoy from the Ministry of Justice's Penitentiary Service.
