Azerbaijan detains Afghan citizens who attempted to cross border illegally

As part of efforts to ensure reliable border protection and combat illegal migration, four individuals have been detained while attempting to illegally cross the state border of Azerbaijan, the Press Center of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan told APA.

On April 30, two individuals — Safi Hedayatullah Eynatullah (b. 1996) and Mirzay Mohsin Safiulla (b. 2004) — were apprehended in the service area of the Lankaran Border Detachment. On May 2, two more citizens of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan — Afghan Mohammadamin Mominxan (b. 1999) and Ahmadi Ahmad Abdullah (b. 2005) — were also detained while attempting to violate the border.

Investigations revealed that the detainees intended to migrate illegally to European countries by transiting through Azerbaijan.

Operational and investigative procedures regarding the incidents are ongoing.
