Azerbaijani border guards were attacked by border trespassers, according to the State Border Service of Azerbaijan, APA reports.
On July 24 at 03:30, in the service area of the "Goytapa" border detachment of the Border Troops of the State Border Service, two unknown individuals were observed crossing the state border from the Islamic Republic of Iran towards the Republic of Azerbaijan.
As a result of the armed incident, two members of the border patrol sustained minor injuries and were provided with necessary medical assistance.
During the inspection of the area, a total of 10 kilograms and 882 grams of narcotic drugs, a night vision device belonging to the trespassers, a 12 mm caliber rifle, shell casings, and cartridges were discovered.
A meeting between Azerbaijani and Iranian border representatives was held at the scene.
Currently, operational-investigative measures are being carried out jointly with the employees of the Prosecutor's Office.
