UN Human Rights Council adopts report of Working Group on Universal Periodic Review on Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry told APA that Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov delivered a keynote speech at the event. He said that Azerbaijan fully or partially adopted 158 of 162 proposed recommendations, some of these recommendations had already been implemented and others are being implemented. He said that Azerbaijan rejected only four recommendations proposed by Armenia that are reflecting aggressive policy of the Republic of Armenia, which has been carrying out policy of ethnic cleansing against the Azerbaijanis since 1988, committed Khojaly genocide in 1992, is occupying Nagorno-Karabakh and 7 adjacent regions that cover 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory. Khalafov also said the fact of Armenia’s occupation that has led to the violation of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan is the main cause of Azerbaijan’s problems in the field of human rights, as a result of it one million people have become refugees and internally displaced persons and it has caused political, social and economic problems in Azerbaijan.

The UN Human Rights Council unequivocally adopted report of Working Group on Universal Periodic Review on Azerbaijan at the end of the session.
