“According to that decision, the claims about the events of 1915 are open for discussion. That is, they have said the same thing which we always say,” the ambassador said.
He stressed that if Germany had truly wanted to do a favor for Turkey-Armenia rapprochement for the sake of global peace, they should not have accepted Armenia’s dogmatic claims.
“Instead of taking a biased approach to Turkey and the Turkish history, Germany should’ve said, ‘O Armenia, O Turkey, come and sit together, let the historians talk so you can discuss these realities and find the right way.’ But the approval of this anti-Turkey decision is indeed an unsuccessful step from Germany and the Bundestag,” Coskun said.
He noted that this is an absolutely blameworthy event which will definitely affect the way we feel towards Germany.
“What’s more, over three million Turks who are Germany citizens and some other people living there are also insulted. None of these is a coincidence. Germany does know what I say and they do so deliberately in order to form a negative opinion against people of Turkic origin living in Germany. It’s obvious that this decision has been taken without taking into consideration Turkey, Turkish character, and our adherence to our history. This will produce a totally opposite outcome. Our people will no way feel disappointed at this lame decision. On the contrary, cry out the realities in a stronger way,” he added.
The ambassador said Turkey has relations with Germany within NATO and a number of organizations in Europe, noting that the two countries have been lately cooperating over many issues.
“The approval of this resolution in a situation like this shows that there are manipulations. However, this is a reality that Germany has been preparing for this for years. Germany is trying to share the genocide responsibility with others, particularly with Turkey,” the diplomat concluded.
