Russia is a guarantor of security in the region, said Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov.
He made the remarks addressing the 16th meeting of the Russian-Azerbaijani intergovernmental commission on trade and economic issues in Baku Dec. 16, RIA Novosti reported.
Relations between Azerbaijan and Russia reached the level of strategic partnership, and Russia is an economic partner of Azerbaijan, said Eyyubov, who is also the co-chair of the intergovernmental commission.
He stressed that Russia wants peace to be ensured everywhere and stands against interference in the internal affairs of each country.
According to him, Azerbaijan attaches great importance to its relations with Russia.
Eyyubov pointed to a great potential to increase the bilateral trade turnover which decreased sharply compared to 2014.
“This is due to the global economic crisis. Our national currency was devalued,” he added.
