Baku. Malahat Najafova, Turbat Baghirova – APA. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev welcomed Czech President Milos Zeman in Azerbaijan, noting that it is the Czech president’s first visit to Azerbaijan.
Addressing the expanded meeting attended by delegations, President Aliyev expressed confidence that the visit will be successful, and the sides will be able to boost bilateral relations.
Relying on solid foundations, relations between the two countries are on the rise and cover a variety of areas, said the Azerbaijani president.
“We cooperate in economic, political, cultural areas, energy too. Bilateral relations are based on mutual understanding. We had had several bilateral meetings with you in both the Czech Republic and elsewhere. This time the meeting took place in Azerbaijan. There is mutual understanding in both bilateral relations and regional issues. Regional stability is the basic element that leads to positive development. In countries that are instable we can see the negative consequence of this. The Czech Republic and Azerbaijan are good partners and friendly countries. We are going to hold a discussion as to how can we possibly develop economic cooperation. There is huge potential to strengthen bilateral ties in the business sector. The figures I got are indicative of some positive trend in mutual trade relations. We have to look through the structure of trade. I’m confident that you will enjoy your stay in Azerbaijan,” President Aliyev said.
