PM: Azerbaijan built regular army with help of Turkish experts

Baku – APA. Prime Minister Artur Rasizade has today met with a delegation led by Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces Hulusi Akar, being on an official visit to Azerbaijan.

Rasizade said that Azerbaijan and Turkey have close cooperation in the political, economic, cultural and military spheres.

After gaining its independence, Azerbaijan, with the help of Turkish experts, has managed to build a regular army with strong material and technical base and highly skilled officer corps, the PM noted.

Touching on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the sides said the conflict should be solved in accordance with the norms of international law and the principles of territorial integrity and inviolability of borders of Azerbaijan.

Hulusi Akar in turn said that along with assistance recently provided to fraternal Azerbaijan in the military-technical field and personnel training, the joint military exercises are of great importance too, and very fruitful results were achieved in such exercises which serve to increase the professionalism of the army.

The sides further exchanged views on issues of regional and international security, regional stability, etc.
