Baku – APA. Turkey respects Russia’s will to solve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told a press conference following the meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, Hurriyet newspaper reported.

Lavrov arrived in the Turkish city of Antalya on Dec. 1 to participate in the 5th Meeting of the Turkey-Russian Federation Joint Strategic Planning Group.

Cavusoglu said Turkey-Russia ties in terms of cooperation in the issues of Syria, Iraq and the Mediterranean are of great importance.

“The situation in Syria is obvious. Humanitarian aid should be delivered to this country,” he added.

Turkey and Russia take a common position on Syria’s territorial integrity and favor a political solution to the problem, noted Cavusoglu.

Turkey’s FM underlined the importance of TurkStream natural gas project and Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in terms of economic cooperation of the two countries.

“The development of cooperation between Turkey and Russia will have a positive impact on both the country and the whole region. We have been discussing these issues with my dear friend Lavrov since yesterday evening,” he said.
