“The further expansion and development of transport connections serves not only our interests but the interests of the entire region,” said Umedulla Ibrahimov, advisor to the first deputy chairman of the board of directors of Uzbekistan - Timuelyara Open Joint Stock Company, at the second meeting of the Azerbaijan - Uzbekistan Expert Council, APA reports.
According to him, the availability of new cooperation opportunities and the importance of utilizing these opportunities made the second meeting of the Expert Council necessary: “One of the necessary areas of cooperation between the two countries is the transport sector. Such meetings allow us to better understand the new development tendencies of our cooperation. These tendencies and opportunities will bring great benefits not only to Uzbekistan but to the entire Central Asia region. This primarily concerns the fields of transport and logistics. Increasing import-export and transport operations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan play an important role in the development of our relations as well as the Central Asia region. We expect the results of the study conducted on the prospects for the development of relations with Azerbaijan in Uzbekistan to be announced within this month. Because it will fully reflect the necessary steps to be taken for the development of cooperation there. I would also like to add that joint studies on the prospects of the ‘Middle Corridor’ were conducted in 2024-2025, and a conference on its results was held in Tashkent.”
