“Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan currently have extensive relations. In Uzbekistan, 540 companies have invested in Azerbaijan’s economy. There are more than 200 intergovernmental economic cooperation agreements between our country and Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev has visited our country five times,” said Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Baxrom Ashrafkhanov, at the second meeting of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Expert Council, APA reports.
He added that currently, cooperation with Azerbaijan is being carried out in 20 main directions, including green energy: “We also pay attention to the formation of transport-logistics corridors. Our countries consider this issue as a main direction for achieving progress in cooperation. Over the last 5 years, the volume of trade turnover has increased, reaching 255 million dollars. In Azerbaijan, 70 companies operate with Uzbek capital. Cooperation in the field of green energy is also a priority. We are interested in the production of green energy and its export via Azerbaijan. We also pay attention to the development of cultural and humanitarian relations. Friendship groups operate between the two countries.”
