"Currently, the implementation status of half of the Sustainable Development Goals in the world is insufficient. To fully achieve them, it is necessary to allocate funds in the amount of 4.2 trillion US dollars," Vladanka Andreeva, the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, said at the founding conference of the Global South NGO Platform held in Baku, APA reports.
According to her, the organization she represents will not spare any efforts to help Azerbaijan achieve its sustainable development goals for 2030:
"Currently, the implementation status of half of the sustainable development goals in the world is insufficient. To fully achieve them, allocation of 4.2 trillion funding is necessary. We recognize the importance of supporting civil society. It should be emphasized once again that, in order to sing from the same sheet of music, we need an orchestra. Non-governmental organizations representing the Global South play a locomotive role in this process. The power of change lies in our ability to unite. The events of last year’s COP29 demonstrated how important unity is. I believe that discussions on climate finance and adaptation strategies are much more effective with the participation of representatives from civil society. Collective steps are necessary to implement joint initiatives.”
