"Today, there are 6,500 NGOs accredited at the UN," the UN official Wook-Jin Chang said during his speech at the Founding Conference of the Global South NGO Platform, APA reports.
He stated that Azerbaijan’s inclusive dialogue demonstrates how much the country values global solidarity: "In an era marked by climate change and widespread conflicts, the South Platform can make significant contributions to sharing common experiences and building a resilient civil society. Close cooperation among communities makes us exceptional partners. I appreciate the Global South NGO Platform. The UN needs NGOs, and NGOs need the UN. Most countries in the Global South do not have NGOs. Today, we must correct this imbalance. Time is on our side. We must act together to address the important tasks ahead by 2030."
