"If Armenia refuses the realization of the Zangazur corridor, Azerbaijan has an alternative like the Araz corridor passing through Iranian territory," said Turkish political expert Esma Ozdashli at an event in Baku on the topic "Threats and opportunities created by new geopolitical realities for Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations," APA reports.
She stated that relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan have gained even more importance amid the Russia-Ukraine war: "Relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan have been further strengthened by the Shusha Declaration. If you remember, before that, in 2010, a Strategic Partnership Agreement was signed. You know that during the USSR period, all natural resources were sold through Russian territory, but after Azerbaijan gained independence, magnificent projects such as Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and TANAP were realized. Since then, Azerbaijan has entered a development phase by utilizing its natural resources. The long-standing energy cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan has become even more prominent after the Russia-Ukraine war. We see the Zangazur corridor as a peace project. Of course, some time ago, Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had expressed a view like 'there is no Zangazur corridor.' Also, Azerbaijan has an alternative called the Araz corridor. If Armenia refuses the realization of the Zangazur corridor, this alternative exists. However, the realization of the Zangazur corridor will benefit Armenia itself the most. To achieve peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Armenia's Constitution must be changed. Because we do not accept Armenia's offensive policies. This corridor is called the Zangazur corridor because Zangazur is a historical territory of Azerbaijan."
