"We have sincere relations with Azerbaijan, with which we share the shores of the ancient Caspian Sea," President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at the Kazakhstan People's Assembly congress, APA reports.
The Kazakh leader noted that the unity of the Azerbaijani and Kazakh peoples became even more evident during the crash of an AZAL plane near the city of Aktau on December 25 of last year: "The best qualities of our people shine brightest in difficult times. We saw this once again during the plane crash near Aktau last year. Our citizens mobilized to help the victims. People stood in line to donate blood. They placed flowers in front of the Azerbaijani embassy. The whole world admired our people's solidarity and selflessness. During these moments, the generosity, openness, and compassion of our fellow citizens were once again demonstrated. Compassion, mercy, and goodwill – these are the characteristics of our national character. We must preserve and pass these values to the growing generation."
