The Congress of Peru has adopted a statement congratulating Azerbaijanis around the world on the occasion of the 107th anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Mexico told APA.
The statement notes that the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was republic, the first democracy of the East, ensuring equal rights for all its citizens. It emphasizes that all religions and ethnic groups in Azerbaijan live in peace and harmony.
The country's steps towards restoring its territorial integrity and sovereignty after many years of foreign occupation and currently achieving lasting and irreversible peace in the South Caucasus region, as well as restoring stability and security, were appreciated.
It is stated that Azerbaijanis around the world celebrate May 28 as a national holiday of Azerbaijan and always remember the role their ancestors played in spreading democracy throughout the Caucasus region, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
It is also noted that our country is an important partner for Peru.
