"Shusha, which was turned into a ruin during the occupation, is rising after its liberation. I thank President Ilham Aliyev for that," Chairman of Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States Binali Yıldırım said at the Informal Summit of the Heads of State of Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Azerbaijan's Shusha, APA reports.

Binali Yıldırım noted that today's meeting focuses on transportation links, the Middle Corridor, and combating climate change: "There is a trade turonver of $600 billion between China and Europe. A very small part of this trade turonver passes through the Middle Corridor. Despite the Russia-Ukraine war, the majority of the $600 billion trade turonver passes through the Northern Corridor, 40% through the Southern Corridor, and only 5% through the Middle Corridor. I also thank President Ilham Aliyev in this regard, he led the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. Despite Georgia's initial reluctance to connect its railway line, this obstacle was overcome. The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway currently forms a key part of the Middle Corridor. Today, we have only reached one-third of the potential of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, but by 2030, delivering 11 million tons of cargo is possible."

Binali Yildirim emphasized that as a result of removing a series of bureaucratic obstacles, the Middle Corridor can become the main corridor between East and West. He noted that in this direction, they can work together as the OTS Council of Elders.
