“Azerbaijan is consistently putting forward initiatives to establish peace in the region. Our main goal is to create an environment of peace and cooperation in the South Caucasus," Member of Parliament (Milli Majlis) Soltan Mammadov told APA.
Armenia is not fulfilling its obligations under the act of capitulation
The MP noted that although more than four years have passed since the war, the Armenian side still has not fulfilled the provisions of the capitulation statement of November 10: “Azerbaijan’s firm position on signing a peace agreement once again proves our desire to achieve peace and stability in the South Caucasus.”
If Armenia wants to sign a peace agreement, it must fulfill the conditions
S. Mammadov emphasized that the text of the peace agreement was drafted by Azerbaijan, and many issues have already been agreed upon between the parties.
The MP also stated that in the post-war period, some organizations and states known for their biased stance against Azerbaijan have attempted to cast a shadow over the country’s victory by putting forward various accusations: “During his visit to Hungary, the President once again brought to the attention of the international community that Azerbaijan liberated its territories within 44 days in accordance with international law – based on the UN Charter. Today, our country’s position is that the OSCE Minsk Group should be dissolved, as the conflict has already been resolved. The signing of a peace agreement now depends on the steps Armenia will take. The provisions in Armenia’s Constitution that assert territorial claims against Azerbaijan must be abolished. If Armenia truly wants to sign a peace agreement and is sincere in its statements, then it must fulfill these conditions.”
Armenia's commitment regarding Zangezur corridor
S. Mammadov emphasized that one of the key provisions of the trilateral statement signed in 2020 is the opening of the Zangezur Corridor. However, Armenia continues to evade fulfilling this obligation as well.
