Azerbaijan’s contributions to the dialogue within the framework of the Global South during its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement from 2019 to 2023 are undeniable, Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Maimunah Mohd Sharif, said at the Founding Conference of the Global South NGO Platform held in Baku, APA reports.
She spoke about Azerbaijan hosting COP29 last November and emphasized the importance of unity among countries: "It is essential to unite in order to overcome today's challenges. Our common goals are the building of the future. The participation of representatives from 137 countries at the conference is of great significance. The Global South NGO Platform will play an important role in tackling the challenges ahead of us. In August of this year, the Asia Resilience Forum, the Asia Leaders Forum, and the Asia Capital City Managers Forum will be held. Another forum to be held in Kuala Lumpur will make a significant contribution to the participation of women in urban governance. The resources available to Global South countries are very limited. I fully support inclusive platforms. I believe that our unwavering solidarity will ensure a bright future."
